How to plan a year of blog posts in one afternoon
A full year of posts sounds like a lot. Broken into themes, months and a simple rhythm, it fits into one focused afternoon.
Most blogs do not fail because of bad writing. They fail because posting every week competes with everything else that happens in a week. The fix is to separate the thinking from the publishing.
Start with four big themes
Pick the four topics your readers care about most. Each theme becomes one quarter of the year, so the blog keeps a clear focus and still feels varied.
Break every theme into twelve ideas
Write down twelve questions your readers ask about each theme. That gives you forty eight posts, almost one per week for a whole year.
Choose a rhythm you can keep
Once a week is plenty for most blogs. Twice a week works if you write in batches. The important part is that the rhythm never depends on how busy you are on that day.
Let the schedule carry the load
Put every finished post into the queue with a time window, for example every Tuesday at nine. From then on the blog keeps going even in the weeks when you do not think about it at all.
